How far we have progressed in reforming the public sector over the 36 years of Lithuania's independence is particularly clear from the perspective of other countries with similar historical experience. This was also confirmed by Leaners partner Antanas Dubikaitis, who participated in a seminar in Chisinau on March 17-18, where he, together with other experts from Lithuania, shared practical knowledge with railway professionals from Moldova and Ukraine.

“Despite the difficult situation in the region, these countries continue to integrate European Union requirements into their daily activities. The European Commission is purposefully continuing projects that help adopt the good practices of EU countries,” says Antanas. “I am happy to contribute to this activity, share knowledge about the practical application of EU railway rules, and at the same time inspire transport professionals to believe that change is possible.”

The event covered a variety of topics: railway safety, technical compatibility of different railway systems, legislation and other relevant issues. Representatives of the Ministries of Transport of Moldova and Ukraine, railway safety authorities, investigative bodies and railway companies participated.

The project is funded by the European Union to help Moldova, Ukraine and Georgia gradually integrate into the activities of the Transport Community. This is the second project in Moldova involving Leaners experts and the seventh, in which we help Ukraine.
